Ambarawa train museum in indonesia

Are you interested in tracing the history of railways in Indonesia, we headed Ambarawa Railway Museum located in Semarang District.  This museum is quite interesting considering there is only one in the world that exhibit combined with steam locomotives that can still be way up the mountain.

Ambarawa since the Dutch East Indies is a military area, so that King Willem I wanted to build a railway station in order to facilitate transport the troops to go to Semarang.  And so, on May 21, 1873 Ambarawa Railway Station was built with a land area of 127,500 m2.  Station heyday Ambarawa known as Willem I, stopped its operation as a railway station with majors Ambarawa Kedungjati Semarang.  And in 1976 to cross Ambarawa Secang Magelang also Ambarawa Parakan Waterford.

When through the gates to get to the museum, the condition of the asphalt road to get to the parking area was damaged.  Parks around the existing vehicle parking area is less well maintained and seen many dead plants.  For the audience of this train really concern considering this place is one of the world the history of assets.

Closing Ambarawa Railway Station, then on the 8th of April 1976 the Governor of Central Java, along with Chief Rusty Supardjo PJKA exploited Soeharso decided to change the station Ambarawa into Railway Museum by collecting 21 fruit locomotive which had contributed to the battle in particular the Indonesian military transport.

Entering the station which is the main building Ambarawa Railway Museum, feels like a return to the past.  In several rooms of the museum, there are several collections of ancient tools such as telephone machines, typewriters, calculating machines, and other equipment.  Antiquities are still well maintained and stored in the display window made of glass.

Ambarawa railway museum is a museum of ancient technology that is used as a means of transport since before Indonesia's independence until 1964.  In this museum there were 21 steam locomotives that are in the north and west of the museum, 5 steam locomotive at the depot with 3 of them can still operate properly.  In addition there are some ancient tools like the typewriter calculating machines, telephone wire plane, and so forth.

When we were walking around the museum, we saw a steam train, complete with two parents walked to the station wagon.  Apparently there was a group of tourists who hired a steam train to experience the journey with a steam train.

Ambarawa stations have old locomotives that are still able to climb mountains with jagged trains, one train in Indonesia's jagged with gagahnya able to walk with a slope of 30 degrees / ml to the station, a distance of 9 km Bedono taken within 1 hour and a capacity of 80 people.  Tourists can enjoy the panoramic views along the way of Mount Ungaran and towering Mount Merbabu and the stretch of Swamp Pening at the bottom.

There is no harm we appreciate Railway as transportation means parents who have walked on the land of Indonesia for more than 140 years ago.
